Gratitude for being understood
A hydrangea head is packed with small florets, filling a bouquet with a single stem. It is always thirsty and even drinks through its head, so a wilted one can often be revived.
Children: Poisonous if eaten, and the sap can irritate skin. Keep it out of children’s reach.
Pets: Can cause a mild stomach upset in pets if eaten.

How to care for it
- If it wilts, re-cut the stem and submerge the whole head in cool water for a while.
- Use a deep vase of cool water and top it up daily; it is very thirsty.
- Florist rescue: re-cut and stand the stem in about 10 cm of just-boiled water for a few hours, then return it to cool water with flower food.
Did you know? The name comes from the Greek for “water” and “jar”, fitting for such a thirsty flower.
